Published in 1906, this charts the development of the 1st Volunteer Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, and its predecessors … which were
    The Birmingham Independent Volunteers, 1782.
    The Birmingham Loyal Association, 1797.
    The Loyal Birmingham Volunteers, 1803.

It covers the early history of the battalion, and as might be expected is particularly thorough on the events of the second half of the 19th century. Kindly loaned to the project by the Birmingham and Midland Institute.

This book summarises the service record of those old boys from King Edwards School, Birmingham, who served during the First World War. It was derived from a number of sources – the Commanding Officer of the School's OTC, official documents, Gazettes, Army Lists, Blue Books, Newspapers and so on. To quote the preface 'the list is far from complete, but it was felt that a definitive date must be set for sending it to the press.' Despite this limitation, this is a valuable resource for any family historian whose ancestors from this period were Old Edwardians.
