An extremely rare and early commercial directory covering Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, Bilston and Willenhall. It contains three main parts - an account of each town, an 'alphabetic list of the principal inhabitants ... their respective trades, and places of abode', and a list of the several stage wagons and carriers 'that go from Birmingham'. Kindly loaned to the project by Wolverhampton Archives and Local Studies.
This is the very first Staffordshire directory (apart from two earlier local directories covering the Potteries district only). It provides details of all of the traders in Staffordshire at the time - alphabetically and classified by trade. Also included is a history of each area, and a map of Staffordshire. It is a superb and essential resource for genealogists and historians. This very rare book was kindly loaned to the project by Dudley Archives & Local History Service.

Kindly loaned to the project by Brierley Hill Library.
