However, before placing an order, browse through the site to find what you want. You can do this in several ways - by selecting one of the types of product that you are interested in (books, trade directories, maps, military histories from the menu bar at left), one of the counties/regions of the Midlands area (Birmingham, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire or Shropshire on the menu bar above), or you can Search the site.

Search Library allows a basic search of the library which you can then refine.  It returns those pages - with an extract of text - where there are matches for your keywords. Also, an individual book can be searched from the page on which the description of the book is displayed (see Library then Browse). Although the indexing is not 100% accurate, it does mean that you can get a good idea of whether or not a book contains information that may be useful to you.

Search is probably the best way for you to find those pages of most interest for you to view on-line. For more details on this, go to How to view books on-line.

Continue browsing until you have selected all the items you want to order. You will see the total value of your shopping basket at top right of your screen, and can inspect the contents of your shopping basket at any time by selecting the View basket icon from the menu above.

Once you have made all your product selections select the  Checkout icon from the menu above to go to the checkout. You will be prompted for your name and address for billing purposes, and given the opportunity to enter a different delivery address if you wish (for example if you wanted to send the products to someone as a gift).

At this point you can choose how you want to pay. If it is by credit card using our secure server, then please press the Credit card button at the bottom of the Checkout screen. Please note that we accept most major credit cards, but not American Express. Alternatively, if you want to pay by cheque, then please press Cheque, print out the order form, and send it with a cheque to us at Midlands Historical Data, 49 Blossomfield Rd., Solihull, West Midlands, B91 1NB. At the moment we can only accept cheques in UK £ sterling drawn on a UK bank. If for some reason you cannot print out your order, please write the order number on the back of your cheque.

Your order will then be displayed on the screen. Once you are happy that it is correct, please press the Purchase button. If you selected Credit card payment, this will lead you to our secure server where your credit card details will be taken - and once these are completed an order acknoweldgement will be displayed. If you selected cheque payment, your order will be acknowledged. In both cases your order details will be confirmed to you by Email at the Email address you provided.
