Directories A Guide to Kidderminster and Neighbourhood and Directory (1889) Local guide to Kidderminster, together with a history of the town, and local directory of residents and traders. It was written by Edward Broadfield in 1888 because he had received several requests for a guide, but there was none to be had. Contains a number of sketches and local maps, and much general local information. Kindly loaned to the project by Stourbridge Library. Cradley Printing Co.'s Cradley Almanack (1915-1917) A 3 volume set of local almanacks covering the Rowley Regis district, which included Cradley, Cradley heath, Old Hill and Blackheath. Contains local information, many local advertisements, and a residents and traders directory for each area. A valuable resource. Kindly loaned to the project by Stourbridge library. Local almanack and directory for Bromsgrove. This volume was 58th in a series published by the Bromsgrove Messenger office. Contains a mine of local information, and directory of local residents and traders. Covers Bromsgrove and the surrounding area. Kindly loaned to the project by Stourbridge library. History of the Corporation of Birmingham, Vol. 1 : 1838 - 1851 (1878) This is the first volume of the authorised history of the Corporation of Birmingham, which is now more generally known as Birmingham City Council. This volume covers the years from the inception of the Council in 1838 up to 1851. It also has a useful section on the governance of the city before 1838. Covers the establishment of the Council, and the business of the various Departments (e.g. Finance, Public Works, Tramways, Public Health, etc.). Some statistics on Birmingham are included. Valuable for the local historian, and as background material for the genealogist. Kindly loaned to the project by the Birmingham & Midland Institute. History of the Corporation of Birmingham, Vol. 2 : 1852 - 1884 (1885) This is volume 2 of the authorised history of the Corporation of Birmingham, which is now more generally known as Birmingham City Council. This volume covers the years from 1852 - 1884. Kindly loaned to the project by the Birmingham & Midland Institute. A Descriptive Account of Stourbridge, illustrated (1894) Although quite short, this is an interesting guide to Stourbridge at the end of the 19th century. It contains many photographs of the town. About half of it is dedicated to detailed descriptions of leading local companies, again illustrated with many photographs. If you can find a reference by using the text search facility, then this guide could provide some valuable information. Kindly loaned to the project by Stourbridge library. History of the Corporation of Birmingham, Vol. 3 : 1885 - 1899 (1902) This is volume 3 of the authorised history of the Corporation of Birmingham, which is now more generally known as Birmingham City Council. This volume covers the years from 1885 - 1899. Kindly loaned to the project by the Birmingham & Midland Institute. Clent described and illustrated, together with an account of St. Kenelm's Church (1910) In addition to the Dudley Almanack, Edwin Blocksidge produced many illustrated guides and local histories. This one covers Clent, and contains many photographs and maps of the area. It also has a detailed description and history of St Kenelm's Church. . Kindly loaned to the project by Stourbridge library. Compendium set - History of Birmingham Corporation (1838 - 1915) A four volume set on one CD at a very special price of the authorised history of the Corporation of Birmingham. It covers the period from its inception in 1838 up to 1915, and provides valuable information for the local historian and background for the genealogist.
