This book chronicles the War effort in Birmingham during the First World War. 3 chapters (out of 18) record Birmingham's military contribution, but the main thrust of the book is concerned with Municipal activities - Mobilisation of Labour, Munitions manufacture, Care of the Wounded, Fund Raising, and so on. This book summarises the service record of those old boys from King Edwards School, Birmingham, who served during the First World War. It was derived from a number of sources - the Commanding Officer of the School's OTC, official documents, Gazettes, Army Lists, Blue Books, Newspapers and so on. To quote the preface 'the list is far from complete, but it was felt that a definitive date must be set for sending it to the press.' Despite this limitation, this is a valuable resource for any family historian whose ancestors from this period were Old Edwardians.
