The Birmingham City Battalions Book of Honour contains the names of those from Birmingham who served in the First World War. Some joined the Royal Warwickshire Regiment (14th, 15th & 16th Battalions), and these are listed in the book together with named group photographs of the officers and ordinary soldiers of each platoon. Nearly all those named in these three battalions appear to have been photographed. Some joined from Birmingham companies, and these are listed with the name of their Regiment and sometimes a few more details - but there are no photographs of these volunteers.

Quite apart from the photographs in the book, it is a valuable source of information. I discovered from it that my great uncle, Cecil Abrahams, worked in the High St., Dudley, branch of Grainger & Smith, a Birmingham firm. Sadly he was killed in 1917, and the book records this too.

This is the table of contents of the book. The first section covers the volunteers from the Royal Warwckshire Regiment, and the second section lists the companies for which there are lists of volunteers.
